Overview

This is our most requested package, and for good reason. A 2,000 to 3,000 square foot gym hits the sweet spot for most communities: big enough to offer a full training experience, small enough to manage with a lean team, and affordable enough to get open without taking on too much risk.

At this size, you can offer your members a complete strength circuit, a solid cardio section, and a well-equipped free weight area. That covers the needs of 90% of gym members, from beginners to serious lifters.

This package has been refined over hundreds of gym builds. Every machine is selected because it earns its floor space, meaning your members will actually use it and your investment will pay for itself.

Who This Package Is For

If you’re opening a membership gym in your town, this is probably the package you need. It’s designed for the gym owner who wants to serve a broad community: working adults who want to stay in shape, retirees looking for a safe place to train, younger members who want access to free weights, and everyone in between.

This is also the right fit if you’ve been a member at larger chain gyms and felt like something was missing. Many of our customers open mid-size gyms specifically because they want to create the kind of place where the owner knows your name and the equipment is always available.

Typical owners who buy this package:
– First-time gym owners in towns with populations under 10,000
– Fitness enthusiasts with a day job who want a semi-passive income stream
– Former personal trainers scaling up from a studio to a full gym
– Community leaders filling a gap where no good gym option exists

Suggested Room Layout

This layout creates three clear zones: cardio up front (visible through windows, welcoming), strength machines through the middle, and free weights in the back. Traffic flows naturally from entrance to cardio to machines to weights, and there’s enough space between equipment that members never feel like they’re on top of each other.

Why This Package Works

Built for the most common gym size in the country. More gyms in the US fall between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet than any other size bracket. We’ve outfitted hundreds of gyms in this range, and this package reflects everything we’ve learned about what works at this scale.

Full member experience. Your members will have access to a complete strength circuit, multiple cardio options, and a proper free weight area. That’s everything they need for any workout, from a 30-minute circuit to a two-hour lifting session.

Proven equipment selection. Every machine in this package is there because it’s been tested in real gyms with real members over years of use. We don’t include equipment that looks impressive in a catalog but collects dust on the gym floor.

This is the ideal size gym for the fastest ROI for the owner.

FAQ

Q: How many members can this size gym support?
A well-run gym of 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft can comfortably support 200 to 400 members, depending on your hours and peak traffic patterns. Most small-town gyms don’t have everyone training at the same time, so the equipment handles the load well.

Q: Can I start with this package and add more equipment later?
Absolutely. We design the initial layout with room for growth. As your membership builds, you can add machines to fill the available space. We’ll help you plan for that from day one.

Q: What’s the difference between this and the large package?
The large package is designed for spaces over 3,000 sq ft and includes more machines in each category, plus specialty equipment options. If you’re between sizes, we can adjust either package to match your exact square footage.
